ChemE 106: Mathematical Methods in Chemical Engineering II
Undergraduate course, Department of Chemical Engineering, University of the Philippines, Diliman
COURSE DESCRIPTION
Analytical and numerical solutions of ordinary differential equations (ODE). Introduction to partial differential equations (PDE). Applications in chemical engineering.
COURSE CREDIT
3 units (2 hr/week lec, 3 hr/week lab)
COURSE OBJECTIVES
After completing this course, the students should be able to:
- Solve initial value and boundary value problems involving ordinary differential equations analytically;
- Discuss the different forms of ordinary and partial differential equations, as encountered in modeling physical phenomena; and,
- Calculate the approximate solutions of ordinary and partial differential equations using computer-aided numerical methods.
